Sock Club
Context
2021 four month internship at Sock Club.
My Role
UI/UX design intern working closely with design, marketing, and development.
Overview
I mainly worked with Sock Club's marketing team to redesign and develop their custom socks website homepage. The main goals were to help users get where they needed to go quickly by organizing info, provide users with a visually stimulating experience to raise click through rates, and to tell a personal story while still being professional.
I conducted competitor and user research, and created personas and user journeys based on my findings. We found and defined baseline metrics to measure success, including bounce rate, session to contact rate, contact to customer rate, and site speed.
I updated their styling using their existing branding guide in a new and innovative way. Then I designed desktop and mobile wireframes of the new homepage, and built them out into prototypes. Lastly, I developed the homepage in Elementor using some custom HTML, CSS, and JavaScript that I wrote.
GOALS & RESEARCH
I conducted user, competitor, and analytical research. I went through the current website myself and noted any pain points, firstly as a user who wants the Sock Club team to design my socks for me, and secondly as a user who wants to design my own socks through Sock Club. Afterwards, I made a list of potential questions users could have while navigating Sock Club and attempted to find answers for them. I then collected all pain points, unsolved questions, and issues in the process into a list and began to develop solutions for them. My solutions came from my own, other employee's, and my friend's experiences, my competitor research, and my found analytics. I also created three personas based on this research and developed a user journey for each, which also helped me think through my solutions.

DESIGN PROCESS
Based on the findings from my research, I created a new website flow chart that included each page on the website and it's location. The goal of this updated flow was so users could navigate to what they wanted faster and easier. After defining the page flow, I created wireframe sketches focusing on the most important page as confirmed by the marketing team: the home page. From sketches, I then moved to lo-fi wireframes, and eventually a hi-fi interactive prototype. After receiving and implementing multiple rounds of feedback, I was ready to implement my home page design through Elementor. The goal of the home page redesign was to better align with Sock Club's branding, and to create a visually stimulating and personal experience for the user.
