Hive Helpers
Context
Spring 2021 senior graphic design academic project.
My Role
Sole designer, individual project.
Overview
In this branding project, I envisioned a mobile beekeeping truck / honey business called Hive Helpers. Hive Helpers removes bees from your area while keeping you, the bees, and the environment safe.
I designed the primary logo along with secondary variations. I chose a cohesive color palette that represented the brand and its voice by using inviting, warm colors that are bright but not harsh. Using parts of the logo and color palette, I created icons and patterns. I combined my visual elements to design a truck, apparel, and packaging for the honey.
With my header, sub-header, and body copy typography chosen, I designed a business card, letterhead, and envelope. I created a social media carousel that takes you step by step on how Hive Helper can help you.
I then prototyped a mobile and desktop company website which included a hero, how it works, shop honey, who we are, why us, and reviews section. Lastly, I combined all assets into a complete brand guide.
BRAND BOOK
Compilation of all finalized assets, brand voice, and styling guidelines.
BRANDING PROCESS
I began with researching designs and ideas related to the brand and compiled it into a moodboard. Then I created a few initial logo sketches. After getting feedback, I moved to digital iterations of the logo where I added color and typography. I continued to revise and edit based on feedback until I had my design finalized. Lastly, I combined my logo variations, typography, and color palette into a style sheet.
PRODUCT PROCESS
I created a pattern using elements from the logo that added visual interest to different products such as stationery, packaging, and the truck. I designed a professional business card, letterhead, and envelope as part of a stationery package. Because Hive Helpers also sells honey, I created packaging including honey jars, labels, and bags. Hive Helpers is a mobile business, so designing an eye-catching truck was important. Lastly, the workers would need uniforms, so I designed two work shirts, as well as casual short and long sleeve shirts.
WEBSITE PROCESS
For the website design, I started by researching current trends and finding inspiration. I created wireframe sketches, then moved to lo-fi mockups of the desktop and mobile site. Lastly, I implemented feedback and added branding and imagery for the hi-fi, interactive prototype.
